SAFETY NOW!

Tell the City Council—Enough is Enough!

MORE CRIME, FEWER COPS— AND THEY WANT TO CUT THE BUDGET?

Minneapolis is in crisis. Gunshots. Carjackings. Assaults. Homicides at a 25-year high. An understaffed police force struggling to keep up. And things could get worse.

More than 100 good cops are leaving. Maybe 200. Words matter, they say. The City Council’s “defund-dismantle-abolish” rhetoric and constant pot shots have made working conditions miserable.

Yet, the Council is about to make a bad situation worse. Fueled by ideology, and not common sense, council members are driven to cut the police budget – which is already smaller than last year’s by $14 million!

To be clear, we’re not police apologists. Our group supports police reform. We actually applaud some of the Council’s future public safety vision. But we’re realists: The city’s No. 1 job is to protect and keep us safe.

What’s needed is a “both/and ” approach. We need both reform and more cops. We have a remarkable leader – Police Chief Medaria “Rondo” Arradondo – who can make both happen. He needs the resources and room to do his job.

If you agree – more cops and no further cuts – act now. The 2021 budget is nearing completion. But you can still make a difference. Speak-up at upcoming Council hearings or call or email your representative. Tell them you’ve had enough of the crime, demand safety now!
